Outfielder Roma Anthony and the Red Sox are finalizing an eight-year, $130 million contract, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Wednesday.
The team has not confirmed the deal, which includes club options, and has maintained Anthony's club control until 2034.
Anthony, 21, was the No. 1 prospect in the game when he debuted in MLB on June 9, a key contributor to Boston's rise to the playoff competition, hitting .283/.400/.428 in 46 games with two home runs and 19 RBIS.
Since Anthony made his debut with a Rockets to enter the top AL wildcard position, the Red Sox has achieved its biggest top speed 32-16. They entered the game with a seven-game winning streak on Wednesday, with Anthony maintaining an eight-game winning streak, although he has not been in the game since Sunday due to the centre-back play.
It was not until after the earliest 2031 season that Anthony became a free agent.
