Manhattan Harlem (WABC) – Two people have died in nearly 60 people in Harlem since last month, according to health officials.

The New York City Health Department on Monday provided a survey of community recruitment community clusters in the central Harlem area, related to postal codes 10027, 10030, 10035, 10037 and 10039 and community.

So far, they say 58 people have been diagnosed with the disease since July 25, killing two.

Officials said the department needed remedies to be taken out by 11 cooling towers, and initial screening results showed the presence of Legionella pneumonia, a bacteria that caused the Legion to collect diseases.

People living or working in the area, such as coughing, fever, chills, muscle aches or difficulty breathing, are urged to contact their healthcare provider immediately.

Officials warn that it is particularly important for people at higher risk, including smokers aged 50 and over and those with chronic lung disease or damaged immune systems, to be careful about their symptoms.

What do you know about this disease

Legion disease is a type of pneumonia caused by the bacteria Legionella, which grows in warm water.

People can get Legion disease by breathing in water vapor containing Legionella bacteria.

Veterans’ diseases cannot be transmitted from person to person and can be treated with antibiotics. Complications of the disease are unlikely to begin treatment.

Veterans disease may be caused by plumbing systems in which conditions favor Legionella growth are favorable, such as cooling towers, whirlpool spas, hot tubs, humidifiers, hot water tanks and evaporating condensers for large air-conditioning systems.
