Path training results in suspension between multiple sites; several hospitalizations

New York (WABC) – A fire broke out under the Eastbound Trail train, transporting several people to the hospital and temporarily suspended throughout the morning.

The fire blew smoke through the train and Newport Station before 6:20 a.m. and passengers evacuated on the platform.

Officials from the port authorities said 13 people were treated for inhalation of smoke, and nine of them went to the hospital for further evaluation.

The video shows flames shooting from under the train with thick smoke inside.

The fire caused a chaotic morning, which caused a chaotic morning for commuters between Hoboken and the World Trade Center and 33rd Street and between Diary Square and 33rd Street Station.

Commuters trying to enter New York City were turned away all morning.

Officials said normal route train service resumed at 11 a.m. after hours of interruption.
