  • Company CEO Brian Niccol announced that Starbucks will stop its “pickup” stores in 2026.
  • “Pickup” stores can be found nationwide, including Tennessee.
  • Mobile ordering will be available at regular Starbucks locations.

CEO Brian Niccol announced on July 29 that Starbucks will phase out its store-only models in 2026.

The Starbucks Pickup was launched in 2019 to simplify the mobile ordering experience by eliminating waiting. With the Starbucks app, customers can choose their nearest pickup location, order and pickup.

According to Niccol and Chain's website, about 80 to 90 Starbucks “pick up” stores will be affected, with some of them facing permanent closures, while others will be converted to traditional cafes later.

Starbucks said in a statement to USA Today that despite the changes in strategy, the company has not stayed away from mobile ordering because it accounts for 31% of the deal.

Here’s the knowledge about the end of Starbucks, Tennessee “Pickup”.

What is Starbucks “connected”?

Starbucks describes its “pickup” location as a “store designed for mobile orders without the need for a quick pickup.”

These stores can be found in 24 states, including Tennessee.

Why did Starbucks eliminate the “pickup” position?

Niccol, which has been in charge since September 2024, said the business model is “too dealtable and lacks warmth and human connection”, defining the brand of the Seattle-based coffee chain.

“We have strong digital products and believe we can provide the same convenience through our community coffee houses and have excellent mobile orders and compensation experience,” Niccol said.

When will Starbucks close its location?

Nicole said the company hopes to move order and the concept of pickup and drop-off locations in fiscal 2026.

Which Starbucks “pickup” location in Tennessee may be affected?

In Tennessee, Starbucks “Pickup” stores can be found at the following Nashville locations:

  • Pickup Amazon Tower 1:105 Platform Way N.
  • Pickup Broadwest:1610 West End Ave. 107
  • The fifth and third center of pickup:424 Church St. Suite 110 5th third
