Former Demarcus Cousins, Demarcus Cousins, recently shared a story about how Jokic intends to retire, rather than signing the Supermax deal on the “Direct Game Podcast.” He recalled:
“When I was with Denver, our lockers were next to each other. I don’t remember who signed the extension at the time, but I thought, “Your people are going crazy! “He's like, 'You know, you know, cuz, honestly I might retire before the contract.'”
Cousins was shocked by Jokic's willingness to get rid of a $300 million payday.

“I said, 'Man, come out your mother,'” He continued. “I said, 'Transactions, the worst case scenario is getting fat.' Don't do it with $300 million.”
He recalled Jokic saying that he just wanted to relax in the Serbian countryside with his horse. Cousins tried to convince him by joking that he could buy more horses with money.

If you have the chance to have a conversation with him, he will tell you something about himself and he really won't give this S**t.
If you want to believe the cousin’s statement, there is a lot of evidence to support it, and Jokic is probably the most natural player the NBA has ever seen.
Even if he leaves, the Nuggets superstar remains one of the best players in the league. As a perennial MVP candidate, the Serbian big man always offers an illusory number to help his team win.

In the 2024-25 season, Jokic averaged 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.8 assists, while shooting 57.6% from the field and 41.7% from three-pointers. Ridiculous numbers for those who treat basketball like they do.
Jokic's love for horses and home in Serbia is likable to fans, but it has caused some concerns from the Nuggets.
Rejected the recent expansion offer, which could be a deal with a lot of profit next season, and the big man could actually leave the team at some point.

Although ownership is already upset about Jokic's future in Denver, the biggest question is whether he will stay in the NBA.
To get him to invest, the Nuggets are actively building stronger rosters during the offseason, actually seeing them as contenders. The prospects for the upcoming season may be positive, but the superstar will currently focus on representing his home country in the upcoming Eurobaskest Championships.
