Top Tennis Bets and Forecasts on Wednesday, July 30:
This week, the ATP and WTA Tour will be open to Rogers in Canada's 2025 National Bank Open. The men were stationed in Toronto to compete in their 1,000 Masters competitions, while the women compete in the Class 1,000 Championships in Montreal. Unfortunately, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka are some of the well-known figures who chose to rest for Cincinnati. However, these areas are still easy to load, so we are looking forward to the action in the north. Make sure you go back to VSIN and I will post as many daily posts about the action as possible. This is the action on Wednesday, July 30.
If you want more action, make sure you check out the Selection page every few hours. I occasionally post some extra options there, including my choice for smaller matches and challenger-level events. This is also where you get the draft pick from Gill Alexander A digital game. You can watch Gill Analytical Tennis Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to noon ET. That said, if you like tennis, you might want to consider becoming a VSIN Pro.

2025 record: 933-902-1 (+50.27 units)
Yosuke Watanuki vs. Frances Tiafoe
Back in March, Watanuki and Tiafoe met in 32 rounds open at BNP Paribas in Wells, India. In that game, Watanuki shocked Tiafoe with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory. At the time, this could have been a season-changing victory for Watanuki. Unfortunately, for him, nothing was there. He continued to move forward for a year and he mainly participated in Challenger Level 1. However, I do think it's a great showdown for Watanuki, so I'm playing him to win the game. I'm also throwing money lines.
It's hard to ignore the competitiveness of both previous meetings. When the two met in Miami in 2023, Tifu had to fight 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3), 6-4. Then, Vaniki finally defeated him in the Indian well. Although Tiafoe is much better, there is no big gap between them at all.
Watanuki also got Tiafoe at an interesting moment as the Americans just suffered a disappointing quarterfinal exit in his home game at DC. After that, Tiafoe might be a little deflated, which we've seen from him before. I would also add that Watanuki spent some time with coach Wayne Ferreira earlier this year. Ferreira has been Tiafoe's coach for years, so Watanuki may be very familiar with the Americans' games.
Let's hope Watanuki has a good day. He has an unorthodox move that is part of his game and can occasionally get rid of him. In the game against Tiafoe, he needs to avoid a long, hard service game.
Bets: Watanuki +1.5 sets (-115 – 1.5 units) and Watanuki ML (+275 – 0.5 units)
Pablo Carreno Busta vs. Arthur Fils
FILS has not competed since the French Open, so he will rust when he returns from a stress fracture in his back. However, this is a showdown where he should be able to handle it with less than 100% health. Carreno Busta has only 4-9 at ATP level since the beginning of 2025, while his interruption percentage is 15.2%. Well, if the Spaniards didn't make it into the FILS service game, it would be hard to imagine it was a competitive game.
FILS is just a better server, returner and baseline, and I hope he finds his own game sometime in this game – even if the first set is a bit rough. Honestly, FILS was able to play 3.5 games against Carreno Busta in Barcelona earlier this year, the Spaniard's home game. The conditions are also favorable to Carreno Busta. If he can't hide it there, I can't see him doing it here.
Bet: FILS -3.5 Game (-123)
Maria Sakkari and Jessica Pegula
Sakkari starts finding her game. In Washington, D.C., the Greek star won straight-up wins from Katie Boulter and Emma Navarro, who was also very competitive in her losses against red hottest Emma Raducanu. The 30-year-old now has a tough showdown with back-to-back National Bank Open champion Pegula, but she got Americans in a pleasant moment. Pegula lost the game against Elisabetta Cocciaretto in Wimbledon, before she was frustrated by champion Leylah Fernandez in her first game last week in the National Capital. There isn't much hint at the moment that Pegula's form is in a good place, but you can definitely defend Sakkari.
What I am most interested in is the Sakkari service. She used to be hard to catch in 2025, but over the past few weeks she has looked like a player, ball on a racket. Some changes in the equipment seem to help this. Well, if Sakkari against Pegula, this should be a good match. We all know that Sakkari has a baseline game hanging with the Americans.
Plus, despite Pegula winning three straight games against Sakkari, the Greek player did win five wins. So she should know that if she just played some solid tennis, she could make this a match.
Bets: sakkari +1.5 set (-143 – 1.5 units) and Sakkari ML (+200 – 0.5 units)
