Apart from the obvious rebound, the clip’s rebound emerged due to Anthony’s plaid past, which included several sexual assault charges. The first appeared in 2004, when Anthony and Hustle & Flow assistant director Wayne Witherspoon were accused of raping an extra 25-year-old in the film. A woman claimed to hear a scream, and then a naked woman ran around from the trailer. She was later treated at St. Francis Hospital. The Daily Beast reported that Anthony was charged with aggravated rape but was released on a $200,000 margin. He denied the charges.
An Anthony spokesman said in a statement: “Anthony is a happy family man who has never been accused of – also involved – something out of reach, and we have the confidence that when all facts come up, he will be completely relieved.” A Memphis judge pulled out of the case, deeming “the most suspicious case I have ever heard of.”
Anthony was never convicted of any crime against him.
