San Luis Obispo, California (WKRC) – A homeless man who beat it with a $1 million victory, initially thought he had won only $200 in the scratch game of the California Lottery. The surprise happened when Armando Vidal got a winning vote from Sandy's Deli & Liquor in April to confirm his prize.
Store manager Wilson Samaan asked Vidal after scanning the triple red 777 Scratcher game ticket: “What are you going to do with a million dollars?” Vidal, a regular at the store, was shocked. “I was like, right? That's how I found out I won a million dollars.”
To win the award, Vidal needs to visit the official lottery office in California. Samaan offered to take him to Fresno's nearest office, where Vidal's bonus was verified.
Three months after a life-changing victory, Vidal shared his money plan. According to the California Lottery release, Vidal is working to secure a home with a bed and a few dogs. He also intends to invest in bonuses to ensure stable income.
After his story spread in April, Vidal expressed hope to keep his visibility low.
