Michelle Agyemang said she was “never approached the action” when she was a ball girl in an England game at Wembley four years ago.
The 19-year-old is certainly now, and his goal finally makes the Lioness's dream of Euro 2025 in Switzerland.
Her 81st minute close match rated their quarter-finals against Sweden, followed by free throws, and England won the chaotic gunfight.
Agyemang passed the academy with England, but her first real encounter with the senior team was her third responsible match for becoming a player in Sarina Wiegman-2021 World Cup qualifiers against Northern Ireland.
“It's crazy,” she told BBC Sport. “Seeing the girls approaching my face. Beth Mead got a hat trick that day, so it's priceless to be part of this experience and I'll never forget it.”
Wiegman knows Agyemang's evolution from Ball Girl to first-tier players, but the Arsenal striker doesn't think her England teammates know her history. But that doesn't matter.
They knew she was a quiet, modest teenager who lived on the court.
Agyemang offers her abilities against France in the opening match of England.
Her four-minute cameo almost resulted in England an unlikely comeback, and no one on the team got more touches in the opponent's box than Agyemang's five.
But while she couldn't save Leo from her defeat, her quarter-final goal against Sweden put them on the game and eventually got on track to keep the title.
“It means finally here, for me,” she said.
“I don't think I might wish it happened a year ago, but everything is for a reason and it's great here. Stepping on the goal, even just wearing a kit is a big privilege for me, and I love it – every second.”
