Seattle Seahawks have performed well in free agents in recent years, especially those who haven’t re-signed with the team. Although Seattle has not been a horrible team at any time for the past 15 years, it is difficult for players leaving the organization to find a home.
This is the case even if players have achieved high-end success before. Safety Quandre Diggs, a Seattle multiple professional bowler hat, was released in March 2024 and eventually found a home with the Tennessee Titans in August. The same thing happened to Jamal Adams.
Both players are free agents again, but Diggs are 32 years old, which is a bit long on the teeth because of freedom and safety, relying on speed and agility of coverage. It's not surprising that he didn't sign somewhere. Adams is another story.
Former Seattle Seahawks Safety Jamal Adams May Watch Life After Football
Although Adams spent 15 years in the league, the safety of frequent injuries was drafted in 2017 and he is still only 29 years old. One would think another team might take his chance, but he might be closer to forced retirement than agreeing to a contract with someone. There are several reasons for doing this.
Most obviously, Jamal Adams simply couldn't stay healthy. Why do teams waste any money? He has only two entire seasons in his career, and in the first two seasons in 2018 and 2019. He has participated in only 15 games since 2022.
Another reason Adams is unlikely to find a home is that he plays a position that requires him to have some good coverage. He is not. Since 2020, he has earned a paltry passer rating of 104.7 or above in three of his five seasons. In one season, his passes allowed to allow lower passers (2022), and he played only one game.
The part that sets him apart from Adams’s game is his ability to blitz and pressure quarterbacks. In his first season with the Seahawks (2020), he had 9.5 sacks and 14 quarterbacks shooting percentages. Since then, his sack and five-pointers have hit zero. The injury caused him to explode.
There may be an NFL team that wants him to get more stormtroopers, but why? He doesn't have the speed and speed he's ever done, and he'll work harder to be blocked by bigger players. His chances of staying healthy are slim.
Jamal Adams needed to start thinking about life after football at the age of 29. He certainly won't be back in the Seattle Seahawks, he won't be with Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams may not have any other team that even thinks he is signed.
