Super large man delays order 8020 in a round of layoffs

Dark Pictures Studio Supermassive announced a round of layoffs and delayed its sci-fi horror game directives until 2026.

The studio said in a statement on its social media channels that it has begun a redundant process for about 36 employees.

“This decision was not made easily and we know it’s a very difficult time for everyone,” it said. “Our absolute priority is to provide full support to all those affected.

“We remain focused on the upcoming projects and have decided to move the launch of Directive 8020 to the first half of 2026.

“The response to the game so far has been awesome and this extra time will help us provide the best experience for our fans. We are very grateful for the patience and support of our community. It has no impact on the development of Little Nightmares III.”

Directive 8020 will be released in October via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The Surrey-based British developer is known for its PlayStation terrorist attacks until dawn. The game is suitable for screens earlier this year, is popular among hardcore players and has nurtured a new, more casual audience.

“In the next game, Directive 8020, the action is more focused,” the VGC preview shows. “So, how can the studio balance more advanced action gameplay while ensuring that its loyal casual audience can also experience the new story?”
