A source told Major League Baseball's Anne Rogers on Monday that veteran left-handed Rich Hill is expected to be called by the royal family. The team has not confirmed the move.
When he pitched for the Royals – he was expected to join Chicago's team on Monday and no starters were listed on Wrigley Field on Tuesday – the 45-year-old will pass the MLB record for his 14th MLB team. Hill signed a minor league deal with Kansas City in May, and recently became the oldest pitcher since Nolan Ryan, initially playing at least 10 batsmen in a professional match at Triple-A Omaha.
Hill released a 5.36 ERA and 1.62 whip in nine three innings this year (42 innings).
Since debuting in MLB in 2005, Hill has been pitching for Bears, Orioles, Red Sox, Guardians, Angels, Yankees, Yankees, Twins, Rays, Metropolis, Pirates and Padres.
