That's it – the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a contract with rookie quarterback Tyler Shoough, the 40th pick in this year's NFL draft. It is a standard four-year agreement worth $10.795 million and is fully guaranteed to sign (always held). Shought received the margin he deserved, and Saints has been awarded the best in QB since the start of the season. Opening the bootcamp will not be distracted. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Shought's new deal.
Shoough, who turned 26 on September 26, had to spend more time in college than he had planned in a series of careers. But he flourished in Louisville last season after his transfer from Texas Tech, before that, he supported Los Angeles Charger quarterback Justin Herbert in Oregon. He has been busy this offseason, working with teammates and veterans in the league, and now he has been in intense competitions to win the starting job.

Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener will fight it in Saints boot camp. There are no NFL wins between them (and their seven career starts), so many analysts, even New Orleans, in the betting market, are low. Derek Carr isn't a worthy successor to Drew Brees, but Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, Trevor Siemian or other passers who have started playing for the Saints in the past few years. The person who wins this game will have the opportunity to write his own story; smart money says it will be. Now, this contract dust is settled behind us, let's see if the child can play.
