When is the roster cut deadline?
The deadline for the NFL roster is Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 4 p.m. ET. All NFL teams can carry 90 players in the offseason, and their active roster must be down to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon deadline. Most players will be exempted, meaning other teams can ask them to claim, but experienced veterans become free agents immediately upon release and are not exempted. Other players will continue to be injured reserves or other roster lists that do not count to the 53-player limit.
